I’ve seen the film several times already, and I still find it moving: the music, the commentary and, above all, the pictures evoke the period and the shambles of the battlefield. We owe so much to the Florence Nightingale Museum in London, especially to Alex Attewell, the Director, for appearing in the film and for for allowing us to film the official War Artist’s paintings of the Crimean Campaign, and to David Chapman for encouraging us to film in Embley Park, in Florence’s home, and for telling a good yarn.
Group bookings may be made in two ways - by sending an email with your details to me, george.biggs@btconnect.com or by ringing the Vicarage on 01794 323562.
Bookings will be accepted whenever possible on weekdays, Monday to Thursday on Saturdays if the church building is free and there will be an ‘open’ showing on the first Sunday of each month at 3.00pm, for which we will charge each adult £1.25 with no charge for children under 14. The church will not be available for bookings on a Friday. See our 2007 List of Group Visitors.
Bookings for school trips are free of charge, will be overseen by our panel of teachers, and there are associated activities for children at both Key Stage One and Key Stage Two. There will be a ‘shop’, where children and adults will be able to buy postcards, and small mementos.
There is a small charge for adult groups - a minimum charge of £25 for groups of up to 20 people, and a charge beyond that number of £1.25 per head. So the charge for 30 people would be £37.50 and the charge for 40 people would be £50
Adults will also be able to have coffee and cake, or a cream tea in the afternoon, but only if these are arranged at the time of booking. You will be asked when you book. The charge for coffee (or tea) and cake is £2 per person, and for cream tea is £2.50 per person.
