Thousands of People come to Wellow each year as pilgrims to the Burial Place of Florence Nightingale.

Wellow welcomes students of the Crimean War and of the history of nursing, current nurses, retired nurses from all around the world, many school trips as well as visitors who didn’t know Florence Nightingale was buried here.

Here you will see photographs of Florence Nightingale’s Burial Place and some of the artefacts that we have, you will learn about the Annual Florence Nightingale Commemoration Service and how to make a group booking to visit St Margaret’s to see our new DVDFlorence Nightingale - a Remarkable Woman”.

Teachers can learn how Key Stage One or Key Stage Two children can come on school trips (free of charge from us) to see a young person’s copy of the DVD film and to take part in educational activities led by our team of experienced teachers.

St Margaret’s is an early 13th Century building with earlier foundations. Look here for an introduction to our history, and illustration of our most interesting architectural features.
